Scottish Water
was set up to transform the water industry in Scotland. It is a publicly owned business, answerable to the Scottish Parliament and the people of Scotland. It plays a key role in protecting the nation’s health by providing water and waste water services 365 days per year to 2.2 million customers and 130,000 business customers across an area one third of the size of Britain.

The organisation has been set targets which means it must reduce costs by 40 per cent between 2002 and 2006 while improving nearly every performance measure. Scottish Water is committed to proving that the public sector model works for the people of Scotland.
