Other Environmental Initiatives

Projects, initiatives and organisations supporting economic and environmental improvements

The protection of the water environment has become a high priority for Scotland, particularly since the introduction of the European Water Framework Directive. Some organisations are working at national or international level, while others have a more local focus.

At a local level there are many organisations, initiatives and projects that are working within the catchment of the River Dee, not all focusing on the river itself. However, all are striving to protect and enhance the river and/or elements within the catchment while at the same time ensuring that their activities are sustainable, not only environmentally but also economically.

One or more of the partners involved in the Dee Catchment Management Plan Steering Group or 3 Dee Vision Project are supporting many of these initiatives.
